The art behind tattoos

Al-Akhbar Management

The Cypriot city of Limassol recently hosted the first tattoo convention of its kind on the Mediterranean island. The Cyprus International Tattoo Convention took place over a three-day period and included live bands, competitions, and live tattoo sessions. Boasting a line-up of great artists from across the world, including the island’s own artists, the convention opened its doors to the public, who flocked the halls of the event, eager to take part in the experience. People of different nationalities and various age groups made their way through the maze of artists and merchandise. As someone who grew up in the Middle East, where tattoos were always linked to 'degenerates' and rarely viewed as a form of art, it was a sight for sore eyes to see young, old, men, and even women displaying their ink proudly. It was an unforgettable experience.
