End of the war: the dance

Al-Akhbar is currently going through a transitional phase whereby the English website is available for Archival purposes only. All new content will be published in Arabic on the main website (www.al-akhbar.com).

Al-Akhbar Management

Alex, supported by his hands, starts to rotate like a propeller as he practices what he was just talking about in a coffee house, "The purpose of our dance is to move people from a negative to a positive state, to move them from sadness to happiness."

His friend Jimmy, who does not live in Beirut by choice as his parents live in Italy, treats break-dancing as one long dance with many parts. He is now in the tiring phase, but hopes that it will eventually transition him to the joy of returning to the Damascene neighborhood of al-Midan, where he grew up. Once there, Jimmy says he hopes to wrap a Syrian flag over his body, listen to loud music in the heart of Damascus and dance in public, declaring "the end of the war."
