History radiates through the Hamadiyeh Market in the heart of Old Damascus. On the 200 years old streets, recognized as one of the most important architectural traits of Damascus, the vendors shows their offerings from A to Z. Residents of Damascus say that a visit to one of the oldest capitals in the world would be not complete without a visit to Hamidiyeh Market, named after theTurkish sultan Abd al-Hamid al-Awal. During these hard times that Syria is witnessing, locals reminisce of when Hamadiyeh saw better days.
