Updated at 4:15 pm (GMT+2): Lebanese security forces found a 30-kilogram bomb in the northern city of Tripoli on Wednesday morning, the Lebanese National News Agency (NNA) reported.
An NNA reporter said a General Security unit found the bomb near the Zgharta Highway. The area was cordoned off by the army, and a military expert defused the bomb.
A 10-kilogram bomb was also defused in the vicinity on Wednesday morning, the NNA wrote.
Tripoli was hit by a double suicide bombing on Saturday, which killed 9 and wounded more than 50 at a crowded café in the neighborhood of Jabal Mohsen.
The neighborhoods of Jabal Mohsen and Bab al-Tabbaneh have seen recurring clashes and bouts of violence in the past several years, as the conflict in neighboring Syria stirred tensions in Lebanon’s second city.
